Kzinti Early Frigate (Clawed Avenger Class)
-----------------------------------------------
Prior to the more familiar Kzinti standard frigate, which was introduced in 2189, the Kzinti had various classes of frigate in service. These vessels were either early MAM technology Warp Drive or Impulse Powered Warp Drive technology.

Introduced in 2130 the Clawed Avenger Class was one of the earliest MAM Technology warships fielded by the Kzinti and gave a technological advantage to the Kzinti over both the Lyrans and Klingons, who were still utilising Fusion powered Warp drive technology.

Due to the mistrust amongst Kzinti crews of anti-matter reactors being placed in the main hull, each Warp nachelle contained its own individual small MAM reactor coupled directly to the Warp coils. This proved to be inefficient as the ship's engineers would have to monitor and constantly balance the Warp Field generation of each engine seperately in order to achieve harmony. As a result only on rare occasions were the engines run at maximum capability and much of the power generated by the engines was wasted as heat via the radiator cone mounted on the rear of each nachelle.

Terran UEN and later Federation starship crews micknamed all Kzinti ships with this system of Warp Drive "Fireflies" due to the very bright glow these vessels emminated from their nachelles.

Despite the poor Warp Drive arrangement Warp 5 was achieveable and more, with a skillful engineering team closely fettling the nachelles to work in harmony.

Armament was a pair of turreted short range disrupters with good forward arcs, short range Phasers for close in defence and a a pair of dual tubed missile launchers all housed in weapons pods on either end of the forward wing.

The technological advantage was eventually lost as both the Klingons and Lyrans developed MAM reactors and Warp drive technology. Both used a common internal MAM reactor and intermix system which gave superiour performance than the Kzinti independant nachelle MAM reactor system.

Eventually the Kzinti developed their own internal MAM reactor system.

It was decided that there should be standardised classes of the various types of warship and in 2189 the standardised frigate was introduced. It rendered all previous frigates obstellete. Soon all the other older classes of starships were withdrawn and replaced by standardised versions.

The Clawed Avenger Class served until 2189 after which all surviving vessels of the class were withdrawn and either used for training, target practice or converted into naval fleet support vessels.

Steps to install:
-----------------
(1) Unpack zipped file.

(2) Move the model folder to Starfleet Comamnd/Assets/Models folder. If you're smart enough to have all the races in seperate folders then place this ship in the Federation folder.

(3) Copy the Shiplist fragment and paste it into the appropriate race and part of your Shiplist file in Starfleet Command/Assets/Specs/Sfbspc13.txt

(4) Modify the model folder references to suit your own SFC models directory structure.

NOTE: You must have at least one stock SFC game ship in human player squadrons to use this ship in multiplayer games. However, AI player squadrons are not bound by this restiction/problem and can have all three ships as K-BRG if desired.

These ship has been put under the Klingon F for Freighters part of the SFBSPC13.TXT, so that it can be called up for use in scripts using the FMSE (Fleet Model Script Editor) software add on by Eagle Eye Software. If you want to actually be able to select this ship, in normal SFC select ships, you will have to move it into the FF, CL, CA or DN part of the listing.
